Jessica Kartalija is an Emmy-award-winning journalist and media expert, recognized for her impactful storytelling and engaging communication style. With over a decade of experience in broadcasting, she has anchored for CBS Philadelphia and has received accolades, including being named the Television Broadcaster of the Year in 2024 by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. A passionate advocate for community involvement and education, Jessica also serves as a professor of Public Speaking and Journalism at Villanova University, shaping the next generation of media professionals.
Award-Winning Journalist
Jessica Kartalija was named Television Broadcaster of the Year in 2024 by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. An Emmy-award-winning journalist, she anchored for CBS Philadelphia from 2018 to 2024, delivering trusted news and compelling stories to the region. Before her time in Philadelphia, she anchored the 5 p.m. news at CBS Baltimore and began her career in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Yuma, Arizona.
PA Roots, Global Experience
Though born in San Diego, Jessica’s Pennsylvania roots run deep. She graduated from Penn State’s Bellisario College of Communications with a major in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Spanish, which she perfected while studying abroad in Sevilla, Spain. She also holds a master’s degree in Communications from The Johns Hopkins University.
Community Advocate
Jessica is passionate about giving back. She serves on the Dean’s Advancement Council at Penn State and the advisory board of Horizons Greater Philadelphia, a camp for children with cancer. She has also worked closely with organizations like the Special Olympics and the Women’s Initiative Network (WIN) at Kennedy Krieger Institute.
On-Screen and In the Classroom
Jessica’s media work goes beyond the news desk. She has appeared on HBO’s Servant and Netflix’s House of Cards, as well as in the movie Transformers. Additionally, she shares her expertise as a professor of Public Speaking and Journalism at Villanova University.
